From the opening hole with its pond on the left sheltering the green to the par four 7th that has you making your approach shot through a narrow area, you will be challenged. The course was redesigned in 1990 around a development of housing units.

One of three area courses designated for play on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour, the Uplands celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1997. The original track of land was owned by the Hudson's Bay Company and was leased to two area farmers for grazing and harvesting hayback in the 1920's.

This course is one of the three courses used in rotation as the site of the Shell Payless Open Golf Championship -- first stop on the Canadian Pro Tour. It's got length, plenty of sand, an enticing bit of water and the rolling nature of the holes makes for several shots where sidehill and up or downhill lies are common. The course dates back to 1930 when it was designed by the well-known A.V. Macan.
