Annual Day to Stop Violence Against Women

From November 25 through December 17, the fifty best-dressed teddy bears in Victoria will be on display at the elegant Hotel Grand Pacific in downtown Victoria as part of Bear Wear 2008, the signature fundraising event of the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children. The dressed-up bears will be displayed in the lobby of the Hotel Grand Pacific throughout the holiday season and are available for purchase by silent auction. Bears are dressed and donated by local businesses and include many valuable extras like restaurant and activity packages, celebrity memorabilia, toys, recreational equipment and original art. Come down to the Hotel Grand Pacific, view the bears and bid on a favourite. Kids under age fourteen are invited to enter the free raffle for a chance to take a very unique teddy home for the holidays. Funds raised at Bear Wear 2008 will help the Queen Alexandra (QA)Foundation purchase equipment and provide funding the QA Early Intervention Program. This special program provides support to young children - newborn to age five - living in Greater Victoria and on the Southern Gulf Islands who have either been diagnosed with special challenges or are at risk for not meeting regular developmental milestones.
